As the school year winds down and thoughts turn to summer, many folks have lots of ideas of things they want to accomplish. This is what would happen at our house: Everyone planned all sorts of things they wanted to see, do, experience, accomplish, including places to visit, books to read, suntans on the beach, closets to be cleaned (usually mine), hikes to be made, etc. Then we'd woefully run out of summer, saying that famous "but I haven't.... yet." We'd all feel frustrated and like terrible planners - until one year we decided to each write down our own lists of wishes, dreams, activities. Next we prioritized and chose 2-3 things that were most important to each of us and brainstormed how we'd make those happen. We had a ball (mind you, my trip to Scotland ended up as visiting the Highland Games in ME and singing along to Celtic cd's on the way) and when summer was over, we all felt like we'd had a full summer of fun (even though the lists weren't done-there's always next year for that closet in the spare room that hasn't been touched in a decade).
What are your summer plans?
I'm hoping we can use this spot for folks to ask questions, seek resources, and share ideas with the rest of the Wilson School community. Please reply with your thoughts and questions.
